Things are starting to look a little different around here. I mentioned in my last post that I’ve spent a lot of time lately thinking of my client process and streamlining three concise design packages. These are finally finished and published on my studio page. The newest design package and one I’m very excited about is brand identity - creating cohesive, sensical brand design for small businesses and creative entrepreneurs.
To help demonstrate what this design service looks and feels like, I’m publishing this self-initiated hotel logo design for Aki-To Hotel in Helsinki, Finland.
The hotel is owned by young Finnish architects and is all about modern simplicity. The owners have a love for minimal design and wanted a brand to reflect this along with Scandinavian architecture. The final words of the design brief were to think clean, sharp, and Finnish!
This project began where all good things do, on Pinterest. After collecting a number of minimalist, scandi-style, designer hotel pins, I narrowed them down to a concise few that I then organized with a mood board.
From there I created the color palette, which was inspired by the soft warm grey-blue hues of minimalist spaces accented by soothing warm tones to bring in a cozy, inviting flair that any Finland-traveler would appreciate.
After sketching initial ideas, I designed a clean, typographic logo with a couple of variations. The main font is sans-serif to reflect clean lines of the architecture.
The branding process is a lot of fun and something I really love because working closely with clients to bring such a big vision to life is so rewarding! I’ll keep posting projects here throughout the next weeks and months.
Let me know if you have any questions and/or if you’re interested in my branding services!
