Year in Review: 2016 Post Roundup

Can you believe the end of 2016 is already here? I started blogging this time last year and it’s been so much fun. It takes more time and planning than I ever could have imagined but it’s so rewarding, which makes me excited for the new year and what is to come. But before looking ahead, I thought it would be nice to do a small recap of posts from 2016. Spotty as they might have been, looking back the posts remind me that there have been several important milestones the last year.

This blog began parallel to me deciding to take myself seriously as a designer and while the plan and tone of the blog has shifted a lot since then, my efforts to build a design career out of nothing has taken solid form. Back in February I posted my first downloadable post: Free Valentines Printables which included gift tags, wine tags and a greeting card for that special someone.

Shortly after I presented one of my all time favorite wedding projects, the invitation set I created for my friend Heather’s sunny Florida wedding. Not only was it so much fun creating and showing these beauties off, it was such a great learning experience for me to work on such an extensive project from so far away.

In Spring I shared the super exciting news that I launched a Minted shop. Getting picked by the jury for several Minted design challenges was such a confidence booster - and I think it was the time when I finally started calling myself a designer without feeling 100% like a fraud.

To liven up the start of summer, I published these downloadable prints with inspirational quotes in fun typography! In July I kept the inspiration flowing with this party post - and I’m still swooning over all these gorgeous things.

Shortly after, I dug deep and published some real talk about being a serial hobbyist, which is always a little scary since putting yourself out there also makes you vulnerable.

With Fall came a new focus for my small greeting card business and I shared as I freshened up the brand a bit. It was a great experience for me to share this process since branding was something I’ve talked about before but never really showed to anyone. This is something I’m really looking forward to opening up more about in the coming year!

Then I turned 30! And just last month I shared my new collection of greeting cards which was another very exciting milestone as it was the first “proper” collection I printed and more in the style that I like. I talked a lot about how the look of the cards and the line in general has shifted over the year and shared my optimistic and motivated outlook for pitching them to local Berlin shops. Stay on the lookout for some more real-talk regarding exactly how it went down in the shops, plus why there’s a missing card in the post itself.

Last but not least I finally published a downloadable calendar for the new year - something I wanted to for a long time.

In addition to these posts, there were gift guides, desktop downloads and travel posts here and there throughout the months. Despite a horrifying political landscape and some personal challenges, it was a wonderful year. I learned a lot about blogging, designing and myself.

Thank you again for reading along. I’m happy you’re here and excited for what 2017 will bring!

Happy New Year!
